Complex Gut Health Clinic
Gut Health Naturopath for IBS, SIBO and IBD, Australia-Wide
You have followed the protocols. You have cut the foods. You have done rounds of antibiotics or herbals, and you are still bloated, still tired, still planning your day around your gut.
Nourished Gut Clinic is a complex gut health clinic. We take the cases that have not responded to standard care, and we do the part most treatment skips. We rebuild digestive function so your symptoms stop coming back.
Your gut was never just a gut problem
Poor digestion does not stay in your digestive system. When absorption, motility and the microbiome are compromised, the effects reach your energy, your hormones, your immune function, your skin and your mood.
The majority of your immune tissue sits in and around the gut wall. The nutrients your body needs to make hormones and neurotransmitters are absorbed there. The gut and the brain talk constantly in both directions.
That is not a different problem. It is what your gut touches. We treat the gut properly, and the rest of the system gets to settle.
If you have been struggling with gut issues, you may also be experiencing
Hormonal imbalances
PCOS, endometriosis, PMS and thyroid conditions are closely linked to gut function. The gut is where oestrogen is metabolised and cleared, so persistent dysbiosis makes hormonal symptoms harder to shift.
Fertility challenges
Nutrient absorption, inflammation and hormone balance all depend on a functioning digestive system. Restoring gut function is often the missing piece in preconception care.
Autoimmune conditions
The majority of immune tissue sits in and around the gut wall. Hashimoto's, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory skin conditions frequently sit alongside unresolved gut dysfunction.
Chronic fatigue and brain fog
Malabsorption, low-grade inflammation and an imbalanced microbiome all drain energy and mental clarity. This is one of the first things clients notice improving.
Anxiety, low mood and sleep
The gut-brain axis runs in both directions. The microbiome influences the production and regulation of serotonin and other neurotransmitters, which is why unresolved gut issues so often come with mood and sleep changes.
Skin conditions
Eczema, acne and rosacea often track with what is happening in the gut. When the microbiome is imbalanced, inflammation and impaired clearance show up on the skin.
Why your symptoms keep coming back
There is a pattern we see in almost every client who arrives after multiple rounds of treatment. The treatment was not wrong. It was incomplete.
Most protocols focus on killing. Very few focus on rebuilding.
- Bacteria were reduced, but the microbiome was never restored
- Motility was never addressed, so overgrowth returned
- Digestive capacity, meaning stomach acid, enzymes and bile, was never rebuilt
- The nervous system's role in driving symptoms was ignored
- Restriction became the long-term strategy instead of a short clinical tool
- There was no support through the part that is actually hard, which is the change itself
This matters clinically. A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis in Frontiers in Microbiology, pooling 25 studies, found people with IBS were significantly more likely to have small intestinal bacterial overgrowth than healthy controls (odds ratio 5.71, 95% CI 3.45 to 9.45).
Overgrowth is common in IBS. Which is exactly why treating the overgrowth alone, without restoring the conditions that allowed it, so often fails.
We don't chase symptoms. We rebuild capacity.
Guided by expertise. Grounded in care.
Nourished Gut Clinic is led by Karly Raven, naturopath and nutritionist, with a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy and over 10 years in clinical practice. Karly is a member of the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia.
She is the developer of the Feed Forward methodology and the SIBO Restore Diet™, a staged restoration framework built on the principle of restoration over restriction. She also mentors other practitioners in SIBO and microbiome medicine, and hosts the Nourished Gut Podcast.
Hope, naturopath and practice manager, supports clients through the practical side of care so nothing gets lost between appointments. Rose, our nutritionist, works with clients on food confidence and day-to-day eating.
We are not the first practitioner most of our clients see. We are usually the one they come to after antibiotics, herbals, elimination diets and several years of trying. That is the work this clinic is built for.
Consultations are held online, so you can work with us from anywhere in Australia.
How we help
One-to-one clinical guidance
You are guided, not handed a protocol.
You work directly with a practitioner who knows your case, reviews your plan as your body responds, and stays with you between appointments. Knowing what to do has never been the problem. Doing it alone has.
Testing that answers a question
Data, not guesswork.
We use SIBO breath testing, microbiome analysis and blood pathology where the result will change the clinical decision, not as a default. Then we treat what we find, combining herbal medicine, targeted nutrients, motility support and diet therapy.
Restoration, not more restriction
The goal is a wider food list, not a shorter one.
Diet is used as a clinical tool with a defined end point. Through the SIBO Restore Diet™ we reduce the load only where it is needed, then deliberately bring foods back as digestive function improves.
Results that hold
We don't chase symptoms. We rebuild capacity.
Motility, digestive capacity and the nervous system are treated alongside the overgrowth itself. That is what makes improvement something you keep, rather than something that depends on staying on a protocol.
Bloating is not just frustrating. It is exhausting. If you are tired of dreading every meal, this is a place to start.
The 3-Day Bloat Fix is a free, practical three-day plan you can begin this week. It will:
- Soothe your gut with easy-to-digest foods
- Reduce bloating and discomfort quickly
- Show you how fast your digestion responds when it is given the right conditions
It will not resolve an overgrowth, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is not another restrictive diet. It is a clear, clinically grounded starting point.

The Nourished Gut Program
Our signature six-month process for women who are done chasing symptoms and ready to rebuild properly.
You are never doing this alone. You have a practitioner who knows your case, checks in between appointments, adjusts the plan as you go, and stays with you through the whole six months.
Six months is not an arbitrary number. It is how long it takes to reduce an overgrowth, restore motility and digestive capacity, rebuild the microbiome, and widen your food list without the whole thing unravelling. Four weeks can change your symptoms. It cannot change your resilience.
How you are supported
- A full initial consultation and Report of Findings
- Return consultations across six months, so the plan evolves with you
- Messaging support between appointments, so you are never left wondering
- A dedicated food coaching session with our nutritionist
- Structured dietary support through the SIBO Restore Diet™ when clinically indicated
- A community of women walking the same road
By application only. We accept five new clients each month. Full investment and payment plan details are on the program page.
Our approach: Discover, Design, Evolve
Every client at Nourished Gut Clinic moves through the same three-stage clinical process. It is deliberately sequenced, so nothing gets skipped and nothing gets rushed.
Discover
Uncover what is actually driving your symptoms.
A thorough clinical history, a full symptom picture, and targeted testing where it is indicated. We use SIBO breath testing, microbiome analysis and blood pathology when the result will change the clinical decision, not as a default. You will always know why a test is being run.
Design
A staged plan built for your body, your history and your life.
Clear sequencing and clear reasoning. Nutrition, herbal medicine, motility and nervous system support, plus dietary guidance through the SIBO Restore Diet™ when it is clinically indicated. Diet is used as a tool with a defined end point, never as a permanent restriction.
Evolve
Your plan adapts as your body responds.
Foods come back in. Protocols step down. Support stays constant. Healing is not linear, so we review and adjust at every stage until you have resilience you can keep, not results that depend on a protocol.
You work directly with Karly Raven throughout, supported by Hope and Rose. Consultations are held online across Australia.

Frequently asked questions
Can a naturopath help with IBS?
Yes. IBS affects around one in five people and is more common in women, according to healthdirect Australia. A naturopath trained in gut health can investigate the drivers behind the diagnosis, including overgrowth, motility, digestive capacity and nervous system involvement, rather than managing symptoms alone.
Do you offer online consultations?
Yes. All Nourished Gut Clinic consultations are held online by video, so you can work with us from anywhere in Australia. Testing is arranged through referral and collected locally or at home, and practitioner-only supplements are shipped to your door.
What is SIBO and how is it tested?
SIBO is small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, where bacteria that belong further down the digestive tract colonise the small intestine. It is assessed with a breath test measuring hydrogen and methane after a lactulose or glucose challenge. We interpret the full curve, not just a single number.
How is this different to the low FODMAP diet?
The low FODMAP diet is a short-term diagnostic tool. Our SIBO Restore Diet™ is a staged restoration framework. It reduces the load early where clinically indicated, then deliberately widens your food list while digestive function is rebuilt. The goal is always a bigger diet, not a smaller one.
How much does the Nourished Gut Program cost?
Full pricing and payment plan options are set out on the Nourished Gut Program page, and confirmed with you before you apply. Functional testing and practitioner-only supplements sit outside the program fee and are recommended individually, with a 10% dispensary discount for program clients.
Do I need testing before I start?
Not always. We test when the result will change the clinical decision. Many clients begin with a thorough history and blood pathology, then add SIBO breath testing or microbiome analysis if the picture warrants it. You will always know the reasoning behind any test we recommend.
How long before I notice a difference?
Most clients notice early changes in bloating and regularity within the first four to six weeks. Digestive resilience, meaning the capacity to eat normally without relapse, is built over months rather than weeks. That is why the Nourished Gut Program runs for six.
What happens on a Digestive Strategy Session?
It is a free 20 to 30 minute conversation, not a consultation. We review your history, name what is likely driving the pattern, and tell you honestly whether our approach suits your case. If it does, you will be invited to join the Nourished Gut Program.
Still have a question?
The free Digestive Strategy Session is the place to ask it. No cost, no pressure, and an honest answer about whether our approach suits your case.
