Frequently Asked Questions

I’m Karly Raven — a clinical naturopath (BHSc) and the founder of Nourished Gut Clinic. I’ve spent over a decade specialising in SIBO, IBS, IBD, and complex gut conditions.

Below you’ll find answers to the questions I hear most often. If yours isn’t covered, book a free Digestive Strategy Session and let’s talk.

GETTING STARTED

How do I get started with Nourished Gut Clinic?

Book a free Digestive Strategy Session.

This is a 30 minute call where I learn about your symptoms, your history, and what you’ve already tried and you find out whether working together is the right fit. If it is, I’ll walk you through the best pathway forward: the Nourished Gut Program or a one-on-one consultation. There’s no obligation and no pressure.

Is the Nourished Gut Program right for me?

If you’ve been through multiple rounds of SIBO or IBS treatment and you’re still unwell — yes, this program was built for exactly where you are.

I designed the Nourished Gut Program after years of seeing the same pattern: people who had done the antibiotics, the herbals, the elimination diets, and were still struggling. The missing piece was always the same — nobody had helped them rebuild.

This is a 6-month guided restoration process grounded in my research, clinical observations, Feed Forward methodology and the SIBO Restore Diet, both of which I developed from over a decade of specialist clinical work. It’s not a quick fix. It’s the structured path from digestive fear and food anxiety to real food confidence and resilience.

Who is this program not for?

This program is not the right fit if you’re looking for a 2-week reset, a supplement-only protocol, or the cheapest option available.

I designed the Nourished Gut Program for people who are ready to commit to six months of structured restoration work — not for quick-fix seekers. If you’re looking for someone to hand you a supplement list and send you on your way, we’re not the right match. But if you’re ready to actually rebuild your gut with real clinical guidance and support through the process, that’s exactly what I do.

What’s included in the Nourished Gut Program?

Six months of structured clinical care: regular consultations with me, personalised treatment protocols, the SIBO Restore Diet, functional testing, and ongoing support between appointments.

The SIBO Restore Diet is my six-stage food reintroduction framework — it’s the dietary backbone of the program and the reason clients rebuild real food tolerance, not just manage symptoms short-term. You’re not handed a protocol and left to figure it out alone. You’re guided through every stage.

The investment is $1,999 upfront or six monthly payments of $360. I take a maximum of five new clients per month — this is a boutique model because the kind of restoration work I do requires real clinical attention.

Do you offer one-on-one consultations outside the program?

Yes — I offer standalone consultations for clients who aren’t ready for the full program or need targeted clinical input.

Initial consultation: $350 (60 minutes — comprehensive case review, testing plan, treatment strategy)
Extended consultation: $350 (60 minutes — for complex cases requiring deeper assessment)
Return consultation: $180 (30 minutes — follow-up, results review, protocol adjustments)

Not sure which option suits you? Start with a free Digestive Strategy Session and I’ll help you work that out.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What happens in my first consultation?

A thorough clinical deep-dive into your health history, symptoms, previous treatments, diet, stress, sleep, and lifestyle — so I can build a clear picture of what’s actually driving your gut issues.

I’ll review any existing test results you bring, identify what’s been missed, and map out a personalised testing and treatment plan. By the end of the session, you’ll have clarity on what’s going on, why previous approaches haven’t held, and a concrete next step.

Most of my clients say this is the first time someone has actually taken the time to look at the whole picture — not just the latest symptom or test result in isolation.

How long until I see results?

Most of my clients notice meaningful shifts in the first 4–8 weeks — reduced bloating, improved bowel regularity, and more energy.

But I’ll be direct: lasting digestive resilience is not built in a month. I designed the Nourished Gut Program as a six-month process because that’s what my clinical experience — over a decade of treating complex gut cases — consistently shows is needed to rebuild microbiome diversity, restore motility, and move through the full staging of the SIBO Restore Diet.

Quick fixes feel good initially but rarely hold. The people who come to me have usually learned that the hard way. What I offer is something different: a process that builds the kind of resilience where you stop needing protocols altogether.

Can I keep seeing my GP or gastroenterologist while working with you?

Absolutely — I actively encourage it.

Naturopathic care works alongside conventional medicine, not instead of it. Many of my clients are also seeing GPs, gastroenterologists, or other specialists, and I’m happy to work collaboratively with your medical team. I can provide clinical letters or progress updates to your doctor if that’s helpful.

My approach is evidence-informed and grounded in current research. I’m not anti-medicine — I’m focused on addressing the pieces that conventional care often doesn’t prioritise: microbiome restoration, dietary rehabilitation, motility support, and nervous system regulation.

HOW I WORK

How does telehealth work? Do I need to be local?

No — all consultations happen via secure video call, and I work with clients right across Australia.

Nourished Gut Clinic is telehealth-only. I spent years running a physical clinic before making the shift, so the clinical depth is the same — the delivery is just more flexible. I coordinate all testing, prescriptions, and practitioner-grade supplements directly to your door, wherever you are.

Most of my clients actually prefer telehealth — no travel, no waiting rooms, and appointments that fit around your life rather than the other way around.

What conditions do you treat?

IBS, SIBO, IMO, IBD (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), chronic bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, reflux, food intolerances, and post-infectious gut dysfunction.

These are the conditions I’ve spent over a decade specialising in — the complex digestive cases that most practitioners find difficult to resolve long-term. I also support clients with overlapping presentations like histamine intolerance, thyroid imbalance, or endometriosis, always alongside the primary digestive condition.

What testing do you use?

Evidence-based functional testing: SIBO breath testing, comprehensive stool analysis (Microba), coeliac screening, blood anaylsis and targeted nutrient assessments.

I select testing based on your clinical picture — I don’t run unnecessary panels. I’ll explain what each test measures, why I’m ordering it for you specifically, and what the results mean in plain language. You should always understand your own case.

MY APPROACH

What is the Feed Forward methodology?

Feed Forward is my proprietary clinical framework for gut restoration — the approach that underpins every protocol I write and every stage of the Nourished Gut Program.

Most SIBO and IBS protocols focus on killing bacteria and restricting food. That can clear an overgrowth in the short term, but it doesn’t address why the overgrowth happened or what happens to the gut after treatment. Feed Forward takes a fundamentally different approach: restoration over restriction.

I address the root drivers of gut dysfunction — motility, mucosal integrity, microbiome diversity, and nervous system regulation — so the gut can function properly long-term. I developed this framework after years of seeing clients who had cleared SIBO on paper but still felt terrible.

The core insight: you can clear SIBO and still be unwell — because the conditions that drove the overgrowth haven’t changed. That’s the problem Feed Forward solves.

What is the SIBO Restore Diet?

My proprietary six-stage food reintroduction framework — the dietary expression of the Feed Forward methodology.

It guides you from a low-fermentation starting point through to full dietary diversity, progressively rebuilding your microbiome’s capacity to handle a wide range of foods. Each stage is clinically guided and tailored to your symptoms and test results. There’s no fixed timeline — you move forward when your gut is ready.

This is not a low-FODMAP diet. It’s not an elimination diet. It’s a structured restoration diet designed to rebuild the tolerance that prolonged restriction strips away. The goal is always to expand what you can eat — and ultimately, to get you to a place where food is something you enjoy again, not something you fear.
I now also train other practitioners in this framework through my SIBO Restore Diet certification at karlyraven.com.

I’ve already done multiple rounds of SIBO treatment. How is this different?

The difference is restoration and coaching. Most treatments clear the overgrowth but don’t rebuild what they deplete — and that’s exactly why I built the Feed Forward methodology.

Aggressive protocols can clear a bacterial overgrowth, but they don’t rebuild the microbiome, restore motility, repair the gut lining, or calm a dysregulated nervous system. Without that restoration work, relapse rates are high — research shows SIBO recurrence can reach over 40% within nine months (Lauritano et al., 2008).

Most of my clients have completed two, three, or more rounds of antimicrobial treatment before they find me. By that point, they’ve done the killing. What’s missing is the rebuilding. The Nourished Gut Program exists because treatment alone is not enough — you need structured restoration, and you need someone who has guided hundreds of women through exactly this process.

ABOUT KARLY RAVEN

Who is Karly Raven?

I’m a clinical naturopath (BHSc) and the founder of Nourished Gut Clinic, with over a decade of clinical practice specialising in SIBO, IBS, IBD, and complex gut conditions.

I started in a physical clinic, built a caseload that taught me what works and what doesn’t, and transitioned to a telehealth model so I could serve clients Australia-wide. Along the way, I developed the Feed Forward methodology and the SIBO Restore Diet — both born from the patterns I kept seeing: people who had done everything right by conventional standards and were still unwell.

I’m a recognised speaker on SIBO and the microbiome, including presentations for Microba, Designs For Health, Nutrition Care and I mentor naturopaths and nutritionists through practitioner education programs and certifications at karlyraven.com.

My clinical philosophy: most protocols focus on killing. Very few focus on rebuilding. That’s the gap I built my entire practice around.

Can I work directly with Karly?

Yes — I see clients directly through both the Nourished Gut Program and one-on-one consultations.

My availability is limited because I also run practitioner mentoring programs, speak at industry events, and continue developing the Feed Forward framework — but treating clients remains at the heart of what I do.

If you’d like to work with me, the best starting point is a free Digestive Strategy Session. We’ll talk through your case and I’ll recommend the best pathway forward.

PRACTICAL DETAILS

I’m nervous about telehealth — will it actually work for me?

Yes — gut health consultations translate extremely well to telehealth, and most of my clients end up preferring it.

I ran a physical clinic for years before making the shift. My work is conversation-driven, test-guided, and protocol-based — none of it requires a physical examination. I coordinate all testing and supplements directly to your home, wherever you are in Australia.

Do you treat children?

Yes — I support children and adolescents with gut health conditions.

At present the rebates are not available for practitioners via telehealth so it isn’t something I can offer.

I’m interested in Karly’s practitioner courses or gut health mentoring — where do I go?

Head to karlyraven.com. I offer practitioner education, mentoring, and certifications — including the SIBO Restore Diet Feed Forward Certification and the SIBO & Microbiome Certification — for naturopaths, nutritionists, and allied health practitioners who want a structured clinical framework for complex gut cases.

I purchased a digital product and have a question — who do I contact?

Email admin@nourishedgutclinic.com and my team will get back to you promptly.
